    Clean friendly attentive excellent care

My grandmother stayed here for several years and I'm very pleased - the place was very clean and smelled fresh, the staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond, and the quality of care (including therapy after a broken shoulder) was excellent. The food and activity program (music, singing, crafts, exercise, library, church) kept her engaged and comfortable. Rooms/hallways felt a bit hospital-like and COVID visitation was restrictive, but overall we're grateful and would recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment about Lewisburg Healthcare Center is mixed but leans positive on staff, activities, and some aspects of care. Multiple reviewers emphasize that staff are attentive, friendly, and willing to go above and beyond; several family members specifically described a family-like atmosphere and compassionate treatment during long-term stays and end-of-life care. Several accounts highlight that residents received high-quality medical attention (including rehabilitation services) and that some short-term patients improved enough to be discharged home after a few months. The activities program is frequently praised: reviewers mention multiple daily activities, music, singing, crafts, a library, exercise classes, and church services, indicating a broad range of social and therapeutic programming that many residents enjoy.

Cleanliness and dining receive generally positive mention from many reviewers: words like "very clean," "freshly cleaned," and "smelled good" appear multiple times, and at least one reviewer called the food "excellent." These comments support a picture of a facility where day-to-day environment and meals meet or exceed expectations for many families. Positive long-term experiences are also present — grandparents and other long-term residents are reported to have stayed for years and to have enjoyed their time, with some family members explicitly recommending the facility.

Despite those positives, there are notable areas of concern and variability. Several reviews describe the environment as "hospital-like," especially rooms and hallways, which may influence perceptions of homeliness or comfort for some residents and families. There are contradictory reports about care quality and cleanliness: while many reviewers describe excellent care and a clean facility, at least some reviews explicitly call out poor care quality and poor cleanliness. This inconsistency suggests variability between units, staff shifts, or time periods rather than a single uniform experience.

Administrative and policy issues surface in a few reviews. One reviewer raised concerns about how incidents are handled and suggested dissatisfaction with institutional policies or transparency around incident responses. There are also mentions of confusion over the facility's name or address and occasional staff-name confusion, which point to communication or administrative shortcomings that may affect families during intake, transfer, or when trying to resolve issues. COVID visitation restrictions were also mentioned and, while common across facilities during the pandemic period, are a negative factor for families prioritizing in-person visits.

There are isolated but strong negative accounts: at least one review is described as a strong warning without positives, and one recent transfer reported an unsatisfactory experience and explicitly said they could not recommend the facility. These outliers are important because they contrast with multiple positive testimonials; they reinforce the theme of inconsistency and suggest that quality may vary by circumstance (for example, dependence on particular staff, units, or timing).

In summary, Lewisburg Healthcare Center receives substantial praise for its staff compassion and engagement, activity offerings, and for meeting or exceeding expectations around meals and cleanliness in many cases. However, prospective residents and families should be aware of mixed reports about cleanliness and care consistency, the somewhat institutional feel of some areas, and occasional administrative or policy-related dissatisfaction. When considering this facility, it would be prudent to (1) visit in person to assess cleanliness and atmosphere, (2) ask specific questions about incident reporting and communication policies, and (3) request to speak with staff members and, if possible, current residents or families to get a sense of consistency during the times and units most relevant to the prospective stay.

    About Lewisburg Healthcare Center

Lewisburg Healthcare Center sits in Greenbrier County about a mile from Lewisburg, and you'll find it offers skilled nursing care, short-term rehab between hospital and home, and long-term care for elderly residents who need day-to-day nursing help, and when families need a break, there's respite care available too, helping caregivers rest while their loved one gets professional support. Folks with memory problems, including Alzheimer's and dementia, get extra attention through their Memory Care Services, and the staff works with families to help each resident find comfort and a sense of belonging, keeping mindful of emotional needs as well as medical ones, with a plan of care that's shaped together. Nurses and aides offer physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and when you walk inside, you'll see therapy equipment and comfortable rooms, plus common areas where residents gather for things like bingo, outings, pet therapy, or holiday lights visits, and the outside areas are nicely landscaped, giving people space to meet and talk. The place is licensed for 90 beds and connects to the CommuniCare Health group, held under Wv Lt Care Op Co., LLC, and managed by Health Care Facility Management, LLC since July 2022, and besides everyday care, there's specialty services like wound care, hospice, and palliative care for those who need it, and the staff tries to foster a sense of community where meaningful relationships grow. They've got a nurse turnover rate of 53.8% and staff spend an average of 3.36 nurse hours per resident per day, and recent inspections, like the one from February 7, 2024, showed 48 total deficiencies, with 6 infection-related, so it's important for families to know about those areas and discuss them when planning care. The center uses special programs called Honor 360 and Advance 360 and continues to focus on comfort, happiness, and involving families in all care discussions, while group activities offer ways to keep busy and stay connected, and staff keeps an eye on medical and emotional needs so residents can feel as safe and content as possible. The center was cited for some resident rights problems related to communication and privacy, so that's worth asking about, but staff and families keep working together to help residents feel supported, whether they're here for just a short time or for the long run, and that steady contact means everyone knows what's happening and residents get care in a place that looks out for their health and their dignity.
