    Comforting clean facility, caring staff

I visited with family and felt comforted - the facility is top-notch, spotless and peaceful (love the birds), and the nurses and CNAs were friendly, smiling, compassionate and checked on residents often. Overall a great, reassuring experience, though I did notice a few residents seemed ignored once, which concerned me.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is predominantly positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing cleanliness, compassionate caregiving, and a calm environment. Cleanliness is one of the most consistently mentioned strengths: halls and rooms are described as very clean with no offensive smells, and reviewers repeatedly call the environment peaceful and quiet. This consistent emphasis on cleanliness suggests strong housekeeping and facility maintenance practices.

Staff quality and direct resident care are central positive themes. Many reviewers praise nurses, CNAs, and other attendants as caring, helpful, friendly, and professional. Comments note smiling staff, frequent check-ins, and staff who take time with residents — details that point to attentive day-to-day caregiving and good interpersonal interactions. Several reviewers specifically said their loved ones received good care and that staff interactions were comforting during difficult decisions, which signals that staff approach includes emotional as well as clinical support.

Facilities and amenities are generally viewed favorably. Beyond the baseline cleanliness and quiet atmosphere, a recurring specific amenity — a bird feature — is singled out for praise, indicating that the facility offers at least one attractive, well-received element that contributes to resident and visitor experience. A number of reviewers called the facility "top-notch" or of high quality, although that view is not universal.

Notable negatives are limited but important. There are isolated but serious allegations: one reviewer described residents being ignored and mistreated and went so far as to call the facility a disgrace and a death risk. While this appears to be an outlier amid many positive accounts, it is a high-severity concern and should be treated as such by prospective family members and by facility management if true. Several reviews also point to inconsistency in staff performance — while many staff members receive praise, some caregivers apparently fall short, which could produce mixed experiences depending on shift or unit.

Cost is another downside mentioned explicitly by at least one reviewer who labeled the facility "very expensive." Financial considerations therefore may be a factor for prospective residents and families, especially if care quality is perceived as variable. Reviews provide very little information about dining services and organized activities beyond the bird feature and visits/ministry; because these aspects are largely unmentioned, it is unclear whether they are adequate, exceptional, or lacking. Prospective families should directly inquire about menus, therapeutic and recreational programming, and daily schedules during tours.

In sum, the dominant themes are strong cleanliness, a peaceful environment, and compassionate, attentive staff — all of which create a largely positive impression for most reviewers and visitors. However, the presence of at least one severe complaint about neglect and broader notes about inconsistent staff performance and high cost are meaningful caveats. If considering The Springs of Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation, families should weigh the frequent positive reports about care and facility upkeep against the isolated but serious negative report and the cost. Recommended next steps for decision-making include an in-person visit to observe staff-resident interactions across shifts, asking for references from current families, reviewing incident and staffing records if available, and getting clear information about pricing, dining, and activity offerings.

About The Springs of Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation

The Springs of Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation provides several kinds of care, such as rehabilitation, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, and memory care, so folks can choose what fits them best, and if someone needs temporary help, respite care is available too, which can take some pressure off families for a bit, and the facility has 90 certified beds with rooms that come furnished, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, phone service, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi, so everyone has what they need for comfort, and there are group and private spaces, like a dining room, game room, fitness center, small library, activity and arts rooms, movie theater, a garden, and outdoor spaces with walking paths, and people can join wellness programs, group activities, and even resident-run clubs or attend events on the daily activity calendar if they want something social or stimulating. The Springs has a staff that helps with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, transfers, meals, and medication management, and trained nurses and health workers are around 24 hours, but direct nursing support usually runs 12-16 hours each day, and there's support for special diets like for diabetes or allergies, plus the meals are served in a restaurant-style setting where options are cooked by a professional chef and snacks are available throughout the day. The place accepts Medicare and Medicaid, and has therapists and nurses able to provide specialized rehabilitation such as stroke recovery, orthopedic therapy, IV therapy, pain management, and technical therapy, and post-surgical care, along with a Telemedicine service so a doctor can monitor and assess anyone's health as needed, which makes seeing a physician easier. There's a program called Serenity at The Springs for people with memory loss or dementia, and the layout and care are set up to keep them safe and as independent as possible, with extra supervision and engaging activities meant for memory care needs. Staff members often get recognized as being helpful and cheerful, so the whole feeling in the community is welcoming and supportive, and families can count on extra help from local senior living advisors if they need guidance. Housekeeping, laundry service, transportation for errands or appointments, and parking are all included, and there's also move-in help and concierge services, which makes settling in easier for seniors and their families. The Springs focuses a lot on rehabilitation, memory care, and skilled nursing, and has earned awards like Best of Senior Living, which shows families and residents that the quality of care is well respected in the area. There's always an emergency alert system in place, and the living spaces aim to feel homelike and cozy, with programs and amenities built to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being, and the community tries to offer dignity, comfort, and safety for seniors needing either short-term health support or long-term care. Multiple locations in the area fall under The Springs of Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation network, giving options for families looking for senior care and support, but the main thing to know is that whether someone comes for rehab, memory care, or long-term living, the staff and programs adjust to their needs with a simple, caring approach.
