    Warm family run memory care

I placed my mom here almost four years ago for Alzheimer's care - it was a hard decision, but I'm so glad we did. The loving, hands-on staff treated her like family, helped her regain strength and stay engaged with terrific activities; the owner/pharmacist and director are involved and communication is excellent. The brand-new facility is beautiful, clean, safe (modern monitoring), and the food and personal care are wonderful. I highly recommend this warm, family-run memory-care community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently praise Affectionate Care Assisted Living & Memory Care for its clean, brand-new facility, warm home-like atmosphere, and deeply caring staff. Many reviewers specifically say their loved ones were treated like family, regained mobility or emotional wellbeing, or flourished in the community. The facility is described as safe and secure, with visible attention to small meaningful touches that create comfort and happiness for residents.

Care quality and clinical oversight are recurring strengths. Multiple reviews highlight the presence of an on-site clinical pharmacist (the owner) and a dedicated medication room that enable safe, organized medication dispensing and continuous health monitoring. Families report thorough clinical attention during illnesses, detailed reporting to families, and a clear sense that clinical needs are met reliably. Several reviewers with Alzheimer’s and memory-care needs mention long-term positive experiences, responsive care during acute events, and relief that their loved ones are in a medically attentive environment.

Staff and management receive particularly strong praise. The community is family-owned and reviewers emphasize owner and leadership involvement—an executive director named Mary receives multiple direct commendations. Staff are repeatedly described as affectionate, responsive, hardworking, and personally invested in residents; phrases like treated like their own mom, blessed, and Godsend appear across reviews. Residents and families note strong customer service, thorough tours, and staff who go above and beyond. The activities director and other program staff are singled out for providing meaningful engagement and consistent communication with families.

Facilities and amenities are well-detailed and frequently affirmed. The building and grounds are noted as bright, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with natural light, a warm lobby (including a beach mural), large common rooms, a huge kitchen, and private spaces. On-site amenities include a private hair salon, theatre, computer room, exercise room, covered patio with cabana, private green space, and a mini putting green. Rooms are described as super spacious with options for single or double occupancy. Reviewers emphasize clean, fresh spaces and ample room for socialization and programming.

Dining and activities are strong points. A seasoned chef and multiple reviewers stating that residents love the food indicate consistently positive dining experiences. Activity offerings are broad and age-appropriate: fitness classes, dancing, live concerts, arts and crafts, music therapy, theatre and social events, mini golf, and family nights. Multiple accounts describe residents as engaged, smiling, and active — with improvements in mood and a sense of purpose reported by families. The activity program is portrayed as a core contributor to residents feeling valued and needed in the community.

Notable patterns and concerns: while the majority of feedback is strongly favorable, there are a few recurring drawbacks to consider. Some families dislike shared rooms and others cite a no-pets policy as a dealbreaker. A few reviews note the facility's small size or low census at times (one reviewer referenced only two residents), which may be attractive for those seeking an intimate setting but problematic for families wanting larger communities or more roommates. There is also an ambiguous mention of staff-to-resident ratio being very low; most mentions present staffing as attentive and personalized, but the phrasing could reflect either a very low number of residents or potential understaffing concerns for some readers. Finally, the facility's newness (opening around December 2020) means long-term track records are shorter than older facilities, although several reviewers report multi-year positive experiences.

In summary, Affectionate Care projects a highly favorable profile for families seeking a small, warm, memory-care-focused community with strong clinical oversight, active leadership involvement, and a rich activities and amenities program. The standout strengths are the caring staff, personalized attention from management and an on-site pharmacist, clean and attractive physical spaces, and a reputation for improving residents' emotional and physical wellbeing. Potential residents and families should weigh the downsides noted by some reviewers — particularly shared-room options, the no-pet policy, and the impact of a very small resident census — to determine fit, but overall the reviews present Affectionate Care as a trusted, well-run, and compassionate option for assisted living and memory care.

There's always a staff member on site, 24 hours a day, offering help at night, support with transfers, and emergency response, as well as a health monitoring system that keeps residents safer. Doctors, an on-site nurse, and a podiatrist are available as needed, and the care team also works with a dietician to offer nutritious meals, snacks, and hydration. Affectionate Care has regular social activities, monthly larger events to bring families in, pet therapy, religious services, and daily programs for physical and mental exercise, companionship, and conversation.

Transportation helps residents make it to shopping, appointments, and local events, so nobody has to worry about missing out. Residents are encouraged to keep control over their routines and join activities that fit their interests or comfort, and privacy and dignity are big priorities here.
