    Excellent care, food, staff, activities

I toured and moved my mother-in-law here and I'm very pleased - beautiful, clean facility with warm, caring staff who are accessible, professional, and go above and beyond. Care is excellent, the food is varied and tasty, and there are lots of activities (games, music, church, garden, theater) that keep residents engaged and happy. My loved one has thrived, staff communicate well and handled the transition smoothly - I highly recommend this community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing excellent, compassionate care and a consistently caring staff. The leadership team (frequently named) and on-site caregivers receive repeated praise for being personable, accessible and proactive. Families report that staff go above and beyond day-to-day, keep them informed about clinical and behavioral changes, and create a home-like, peaceful atmosphere that supports resident wellbeing. Several reviewers explicitly state they would recommend Hawkins Creek, and long-term residents and families note continuity of care and staff consistency since 2020.

Care quality and memory-care capability are recurring strengths in these summaries. Reviewers describe meaningful clinical improvements for memory-care residents — reductions in hallucinations and other Alzheimer’s symptoms, improved physical comfort, weight gain, and increased engagement. Many accounts indicate that individualized attention, clinical responsiveness and purposeful programming contributed to measurable improvements in residents’ health and mood. The facility is portrayed as meeting resident needs clinically, socially and spiritually, with families reporting that loved ones have 'blossomed' and show visible enjoyment in photos and updates.

Staff and management receive particularly high marks. Comments emphasize professional, genuine, and attentive caregiving; staff who communicate well with families; and leadership that is present and helpful. Specific staff and leaders were named positively, and reviewers frequently mention that concerns are addressed promptly. The community’s relatively small size and consistent staffing are seen as benefits—creating a personal feel, closer relationships, and higher accountability. Bilingual service is noted in at least one review, indicating some language accessibility for Spanish-speaking families.

Facilities and amenities are another strong area. Multiple reviewers point to recent remodels and upgrades that produced brighter, more modern, and airy common spaces. Dining areas are described as attractive and restaurant-style, with varied menus and generally high praise for the food and chef. Amenities listed by reviewers include a theater, bistro, game room, library with computers, garden and outdoor seating, church services, piano Sundays, and a range of group activities (games, dominoes, puzzles, singing). These offerings support active social engagement and frequent family-friendly programming.

Activities and social life are emphasized as well-structured and well-attended. Families note that staff encourage resident participation, post photos, and organize meaningful programming that contributes to residents’ happiness and social engagement. Reviewers appreciate a diversity of options — from spiritual services to gaming and crafts — and often tie active programming to improved mood and overall quality of life for residents.

While overwhelmingly positive, the reviews note a handful of consistent concerns. A minority of comments mention smaller apartment sizes, some dated or poorly maintained elements (dirty carpets, an institutional feel in specific units) and inconsistent apartment features such as the presence or absence of kitchens. Accessibility is a specific issue for some prospective residents: although many parts of the community are single-level and feel home-like, at least one reviewer reported a two-story building that did not meet their requirement for single-level living. Cost is noted as a factor — Hawkins Creek is described as mid-range in price, which influenced some families’ decisions; it is neither the least expensive nor the most expensive option in the area. Minor food preference complaints appear occasionally, but these are isolated relative to the many positive comments about dining quality.

In summary, Hawkins Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care is characterized by strong, compassionate caregiving, effective memory-care outcomes, proactive leadership, and a facility that has benefited from recent upgrades. The dining, activities, and amenities support resident engagement and satisfaction, and families regularly cite improved wellbeing and a sense of home for their loved ones. Prospective residents and families should consider unit size and specific apartment features during tours, confirm the building layout for accessibility needs, and weigh cost relative to the high level of staff attention and clinical support described by current families. Overall, the reviews depict Hawkins Creek as a caring, well-managed community that consistently meets residents’ clinical, social and emotional needs while offering a warm, activity-rich environment.

About Hawkins Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care

Hawkins Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care sits in Longview at 311 E Hawkins Parkway, pretty close to downtown, the Village Green parks, and the Longview Arboretum, so folks who live there get a safe place that's still close to things. This community takes care of seniors who need assisted living and also people living with memory issues like Alzheimer's or dementia-there are special programs and apartments for both. People live in private apartments that feel homelike, with features like cable TV, Wi-Fi, climate controls, and closet space, and while you can't cook in the units, all meals get served in a shared dining room where folks can gather and eat together three times a day. Residents get help with all the daily things, so bathing, dressing, medication, meals, laundry, and even housekeeping are handled, and there's special medical care available, too, with nurses and trained staff on hand twenty-four hours a day.

Everyone's looked after with regular safety checks, emergency response systems, and security for the community, including controlled access and wellness checks, and there's a real focus on keeping everyone safe using personal alert systems, fall prevention, and mobility aids like Hoyer lifts or wheelchair assistance if needed. The grounds include secure outdoor areas where people can walk safely, sit on the patio, or enjoy a garden, plus screened-in porches. Housekeeping takes care of things like linen changes, grounds upkeep, and even plant care. Folks who like being busy can join in with arts and crafts, music, classes, parties, holiday events, porch concerts, and outings on the community bus, which also takes people to appointments or shopping trips around town. There's a full schedule of activities and wellness programs, including therapy for things like speech, mobility, and occupational needs, so people can work on staying stronger or recovering from an illness.

The Memory Care side offers a special program called SPARK, which means care goes on day and night to help people with memory loss, and the staff get specialized training to help work with residents who have dementia, behavior issues, or chronic illnesses. There's also a focus on person-centered care, making sure each resident gets what helps them most, whether that's help with eating, toileting, or getting dressed, along with companionship and social support for better well-being. Apartments and main areas are designed for easy movement, with wheelchair access and both one-person and two-person transfer help. People can go to religious services on site, and pets are welcome with pet-friendly features available in the facility. Staff hiring goes through background checks, reference checks, and everyone gets trained in things like ethics, safety, and elder care, and the community follows Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity rules.

Living at Hawkins Creek means having privacy in your own apartment, but also being able to join in common areas-like living rooms, mailboxes, shared laundry, and cable TV in the large spaces-and there's a choice of different apartment floor plans to suit different needs. Meals, laundry services, and housekeeping are handled, and the on-site staff are attentive to both hospitality and health. It's a place where people can keep busy, go out on the bus, see friends, and have family come visit on family nights or birthday events. For anyone needing more support or memory care, the facility is set up with skilled nursing and care that goes beyond what's typical in assisted living, always keeping safety, comfort, and dignity in mind. The building's part of the Sagora Senior Living group and offers virtual tours for those who want to see what the apartments, grounds, and layouts look like before visiting.
