The Eastman Senior Living sits in the East Texas Piney Woods and is run by SilverPoint, which uses an Engaged Living philosophy focusing on purpose and community for residents aged 55 and over. The building has been refurbished and the staff, who are friendly and greet folks every day, are on hand around the clock in case someone needs help, with emergency response call systems in place for safety. The community has a home-like feel, with apartments in studio and two-bedroom layouts, some with full-size kitchens and semi-private options, and residents can bring small pets. People can choose from different care types, like assisted living, memory and dementia care, adult day care, and even independent living in the surrounding master-planned retirement community. Folks needing help can get daily support with bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and there's special Alzheimer's care for those who need more supervision to prevent confusion and wandering. Dining fits every stage, with restaurant-style seating, a robust culinary program with balanced meals, special diets, and dining assistance if needed, and guests are welcome at mealtime. The Signature Engaged Living programs give residents chances to join in activities, clubs, games, cultural events, inside tours, and even outside volunteering at local food banks or schools, and there are outdoor patios, gardens, walking paths, and a courtyard for fresh air and socializing. There's a library, residents' lounge, comfortable common rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, game rooms, elevators, and a beauty salon with barber and hairdryer stations. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen service happens weekly, and the building welcomes outside home care agencies for people looking to further customize their help. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable, and the community helps people stay active and independent, with wellness and engaged living programs aimed at giving everyone something to look forward to each day.
Pleased overall, some administrative issues
I moved my mom to Brookdale Longview and overall I'm pleased - the rooms and common areas are very clean, staff are warm, attentive and welcoming, activities (church/Bible study) are available, and my mom is happy and making friends, which gave me real peace of mind. Care is generally personalized and responsive, and the dining area is pleasant, though meals can be bland and dining is often short-staffed; we've also had troubling billing/medication mix-ups and occasional housekeeping lapses. Despite some administrative/staffing issues and an older building in spots, I'd recommend touring Brookdale Longview.
