The Woodlands of Columbus sits at 5380 East Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio, and offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care retirement communities, so residents get the support they need even as their health changes, with the option for hassle-free living for people 55 and older, and the community keeps things simple with private, carpeted suites that have individually controlled heat, air conditioning, and mini-blinds for privacy, while residents can enjoy a self-serve beverage bar, spacious activities rooms for crafts, cooking, and baking classes, an onsite aviary, landscaped courtyards, outdoor patios, and both indoor and outdoor common areas. Staff trained in caring for older adults help with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and medication management, but the goal is to help people stay as independent as possible, and there's emergency medical alert systems, individual smoke detectors, walk-in showers with grab bars and built-in seats, assist hand rails in bathrooms, and a secure environment, especially for people with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, plus the memory care program uses health plans made for each resident, with added support for those who need behavior intervention. Devotional services, beautician and barber services, housekeeping, laundry, library access, and scheduled transportation all add to the daily routine if wanted, and residents also get help from nurses on staff, podiatrists, and physical, occupational, and speech therapists, and there's access to doctors and nurses on call, with both male and female residents welcome depending on the option chosen. Meals are provided, and people can join in a range of social, spiritual, and recreational activities, including video tours, photographic amenities, and time in luxury common rooms to visit with friends or family, and the community allows pets and supports both short-term respite stays and longer-term placements, so each resident can find what fits. With Civitas Senior Living operating things, the staff keeps an eye on promoting safety, enjoyment, and dignity, and the building's single-story design and accessible showers help with mobility, while the outdoor landscaping and peaceful surroundings make for a calm setting many people appreciate when they just want to relax or go for a walk. The Woodlands of Columbus uses modern amenities and a calendar full of activities, so seniors have plenty to do, but they're free to join in as much or as little as they want, and independent living spaces stay maintenance-free so residents can focus on things that matter to them without any fuss, and folks using memory care or assisted living still have plenty of choices in their daily routines, so life's about support, comfort, and keeping active at whatever level suits the person best.

Clean, warm, caring; verify costs
I toured and/or visited several times and found the facility very clean, warm and homey with friendly, caring staff, excellent food and lots of activities - nursing and memory-care seemed attentive and secure. That said, many rooms are small/dated (renovations underway), staffing and administrative communication can be inconsistent, and billing/Medicaid policies need careful scrutiny. Overall I'd recommend it for strong day-to-day care and atmosphere, but verify staffing levels, costs and Medicaid acceptance before committing.
