    Caring staff but serious problems

I had a loved one there and briefly worked at the facility - I was fired by Shafique after confronting nurse Danny Freed for lying about me. The place is chronically short-staffed, night shift and some day aides neglect duties, and I witnessed verbal abuse, theft and poor communication (families often couldn't reach residents). On the positive side the food, activities (bingo, music, parties), dining area, security and grounds are nice and many staff were caring. New management has started making improvements, but I still can't fully recommend it without reservations.

    Summary review

The reviews for Fountainbleau Lodge present a deeply mixed picture with clear strengths in environment, dining, and activities, but serious and recurring concerns about care consistency, staff conduct, and communication. Multiple reviewers praise the facility's ambience, dining area, and social programming: residents and families frequently note pleasant surroundings, a comfortable, home-like environment, mostly good food, and active social opportunities such as bingo, music, and parties. Several reviewers describe staff as attentive, compassionate, and helpful, and some explicitly call the place their 'new home' or say they would recommend it. Practical factors such as average pricing, security presence, and a convenient location are also mentioned positively, suggesting the facility can meet many basic expectations for a senior living setting.

However, a number of serious negative themes emerge and recur across reviews. The most alarming are allegations of mistreatment and theft: reviewers report verbal abuse toward residents, staff abuse, and missing personal items. There are explicit accounts of poor conduct by named staff members and claims of supervisory inaction; one reviewer alleges being fired after confronting staff behavior and names a supervisor tied to that action. Incidents severe enough to involve the police were also reported. These claims point to safety and oversight concerns that prospective residents and families should investigate thoroughly.

Staffing and care-quality issues are a prominent concern. Several reviewers report short-staffing, aides who are not certified CNAs, and day-shift personnel 'not doing their job,' which they say negatively impacts resident care. There is a pattern of inconsistent experiences between shifts: some reviewers note the night shift deteriorated after certain staff left, while others single out day-shift problems. Communication failures compound these staffing concerns; families describe difficulty reaching residents by phone and being unable to get timely information, which heightens anxiety and reduces trust.

There is evidence of management change and attempts at improvement. Some reviews explicitly state that new management has implemented improvements and addressed past issues, and these reviewers felt the facility was 'headed in the right direction' after prior problems. This suggests some progress on prior shortcomings, but the presence of both recent positive and deeply negative accounts indicates recovery may be uneven and ongoing. The overall sentiment is therefore polarized: some long-term or recent residents are happy, engaged, and well cared for, while others experienced or witnessed troubling incidents severe enough to warrant disrecommendation.

In sum, Fountainbleau Lodge shows strengths in atmosphere, dining, activities, and pockets of compassionate caregiving, but also exhibits significant red flags that prospective residents and family members should not ignore. Key areas to probe during a visit or in conversations with management are staff training and certification, staff-to-resident ratios (especially across different shifts), incident reporting and resolution processes, specific responses to allegations of theft or abuse, and how family communications are handled. Given conflicting reports and serious allegations, a careful, evidence-based evaluation (including recent state inspection reports, references from current families, and direct observation of care on multiple shifts) is strongly advised before making a placement decision.
