    Pleasant days, neglectful nights, removed

I've had a mixed experience. Day staff and management were caring, competent and friendly - clean facility, pleasant rooms with big windows, good meals and lots of activities - but night/second/third-shift care was inconsistent and sometimes neglectful: residents ignored, urine odor, weight loss and unsafe incidents (I pulled my mother out). I appreciate many staff, but the inconsistent/nighttime care makes me hesitant to recommend.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews for Cherry Blossom Manor Inc are mixed but lean positive in many respects. A plurality of reviewers highlight a clean, well-kept facility with spacious common areas and a strong, caring staff. Many families report that their loved ones enjoy the social life, activities, and homelike atmosphere, and several reviewers explicitly recommend the community. However, there are several very serious negative reports—some alleging neglect, odor problems, weight loss, and unsafe conditions—that create a notable contrast to the favorable descriptions and indicate inconsistency in resident experience.

Care quality: Numerous reviewers praise the caregiving staff as attentive, compassionate, and well trained, with examples of staff going the extra mile and forming close relationships with residents. Some families specifically mention outstanding or exceptional medical care and that loved ones 'feel at home.' Conversely, other reviews describe troubling care lapses: residents reportedly left unattended, clothes not changed, sleeping through most of the day, and significant unintentional weight loss in a short time frame. These negative accounts are serious and suggest that while care can be very good, it may not be uniformly so for all residents or all shifts.

Staff and management: Multiple reviewers commend management as efficient and professional, and many describe front-line staff as friendly, engaged, and genuinely interested in residents' well-being. Staff involvement in activities and affection toward residents is frequently noted. At the same time, there are countervailing reports describing staff agitation, unprofessional appearance, lazy behavior, and moments where residents felt ignored. Several reviews point to a possible discrepancy between daytime and nighttime/third-shift staffing or oversight—positive daytime impressions contrasted with concerns about the night shift. This pattern suggests that staffing consistency, training reinforcement, and oversight may be variable.

Facilities and amenities: The facility is often described as clean, with wide hallways and a large, inviting day room that includes a piano, TV, seating, and other homelike touches such as a tropical fish tank. Rooms are reported to be a good size, able to accommodate family-decorated furnishings, and many have large windows with pleasant views and bird-watching opportunities. Amenities mentioned include a shower room, barbershop, exercise area, and outdoor space. That said, a subset of reviews report odor problems (notably urine smell) and dirty rooms, indicating uneven housekeeping or sanitation practices in some instances.

Activities and social life: Social programming appears to be a strength for many residents: daily activities such as bingo, cards, and crafts are regular features, along with themed events, pajama days, and staff-led social engagement. Reviewers frequently mention residents enjoying common-room social time, piano music, after-dinner treats, and outdoor time with peers. These offerings contribute to a non-hospital, homey atmosphere valued by many families.

Dining: Several reviewers mention balanced meals, good meal choices, and generally decent food. However, a few negative reviews note problems with dining access or assistance—residents being neglected during meals—so dining experience may depend on staffing and resident needs.

Notable patterns and recommendations for prospective families: The dominant pattern in the reviews is one of generally positive environment, caring daytime staff, and pleasant facilities, offset by a smaller but serious set of reports that allege neglect, poor night-shift care, odor/cleanliness issues, and unsafe conditions. Because of this variability, prospective residents and families should verify current conditions in person. Helpful steps include touring at different times of day (including evenings/night if permitted), observing mealtimes and staff-resident interactions, asking about staffing levels and training for second/third shifts, requesting recent inspection and staffing records, speaking with current residents and families, and asking management how they handle complaints and follow-up. The mixture of glowing endorsements and serious allegations suggests the community can provide excellent, affectionate care for many residents, but that oversight and consistency—particularly across shifts—merit careful scrutiny before making a placement decision.
