    Gorgeous facility with caring staff

I moved my mom here and I couldn't be happier - the brand-new, gorgeous facility with bright, well-appointed apartments, beautiful grounds and restaurant-style dining feels homey, not institutional. The staff are warm, professional and attentive (from sales to nursing, dining and maintenance), the programming and in-house/partner therapy keep residents active, and communication and COVID safety were excellent. Family involvement is encouraged and the community genuinely cares, though there have been occasional staffing/scheduling kinks and rent increases. Overall, exceptional care and a very welcoming community - I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with a consistent emphasis on the community’s high-quality physical plant, attentive staff, strong programming, and effective clinical/rehab services. Many reviewers describe Arbor Terrace Glenview as a brand-new, beautifully designed community with luxury appointments, high ceilings, marble touches and a resort- or 5‑star-hotel–like ambience. The property’s cleanliness, well-furnished apartments, private baths and thoughtfully arranged shared spaces (cafe, salon, theatre, game room, arts and crafts room) are repeatedly noted. Multiple reviewers explicitly call out that the environment feels home-like rather than institutional, contributing to residents’ comfort and family peace of mind.

Staff quality and personal attention are among the most frequently praised aspects. Reviewers consistently report warm, professional and responsive caregivers and nurses, with numerous anecdotes of staff going above and beyond (staying late, painting nails, accommodating special needs). Several staff members are named positively — for example Samantha (Community Sales Director), Lisa, Carla and Frances Garcia — which underscores the personal relationships families experience. Leadership and administration receive favorable mentions for being accessible and supportive, and many families describe clear, consistent communication, helpful coordination during move-in and transitions, and tangible caregiver relief after placement.

Clinical and therapeutic services are another strong theme. The community offers in-house PT/OT and rehab partnerships (including FOX Rehab) and runs targeted exercise classes that emphasize balance and strength; some programs even expanded to Zoom during COVID to keep residents active. Memory care is available on-site and is commonly highlighted as appropriate and compassionate, with reviewers reporting that memory-care residents are happy and well cared for. Families also note collaboration with outside providers (Glenview Park District) and effective use of therapy resources, which supports residents’ functional outcomes and engagement.

Dining and activities are widely praised: restaurant-style dining, varied menus with desserts, special dinner events, and friendly servers are frequently mentioned. Social programming — from music nights, dog therapy and movie nights in the theatre to outings and arts/crafts — contributes to a sense of community and encourages resident socialization; many reviews describe residents forming dining companions and engaging socially. The community’s many shared spaces enable family gatherings and offer numerous options for daily life, which reviewers appreciate.

That said, several recurring concerns and mixed experiences emerge. A minority of reviewers report colder or less-helpful interactions at the front desk, caregivers seen on cell phones, or specific instances of staff inattentiveness. A few accounts describe a quiet or 'ghostly' atmosphere at times, with scheduled activities not always delivered consistently — especially early in the community’s life or during pandemic restrictions — leaving some residents bored or less engaged. Several reviewers also mention practical limitations in the apartments (microwave-only kitchens and some layouts where bathrooms sit close to living space). Financial concerns appear in multiple reviews: pricing increases, perceived higher rent, and questions about long-term value are noted by some families.

Operational issues appear intermittently in the feedback. A handful of families reported staffing turnover or a decline in care over time, missed assistance days, or scheduling kinks that required management intervention; these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule but are important as they affect trust and perceived consistency. COVID-era restrictions created loneliness for some residents despite the facility’s generally strong safety protocols and family communication efforts (video calls, social worker outreach). While memory care generally receives favorable mentions, at least one reviewer cautioned that memory care offerings might not meet every family’s needs — highlighting the importance of assessing individual requirements.

In summary, Arbor Terrace Glenview is characterized by a modern, elegant environment combined with compassionate, professional staff and comprehensive services (dining, activities, therapy, memory care). The most common strengths are facility quality, individualized staff attention, robust programming, and effective clinical supports. The main areas for prospective residents and families to probe further are consistency of daily programming, staff stability, apartment layout/amenities (kitchen limitations and bathroom placement), and ongoing pricing or value concerns. For most reviewers the positives—especially staff responsiveness, cleanliness, and quality of life improvements—outweigh the negatives, and many strongly recommend the community for both independent seniors and those needing memory or skilled support.
