    Warm attentive staff beautiful safe

I live here and couldn't be happier - the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely caring, treating residents like family. The bright, modern rooms, beautiful grounds (lake, fountain, patio) and clean, well-kept common areas feel homey, and meals/snacks are healthy and tasty. There are plenty of activities (Bingo, puzzles, games) and staff encourage participation; during the COVID lockdown visits were limited but communication was excellent and safety measures kept us safe (no cases). Great value - I highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive, with frequent praise centered on the quality and character of staff, a well-maintained facility, good food, and an active program of activities that support resident engagement and socialization. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the staff are caring, attentive, knowledgeable, and personable — descriptors used repeatedly include compassionate, dedicated, sweet, and top-notch. Reviewers point out that caregivers encourage participation in activities, walk with residents, and treat residents like family. Communication with families is noted as open and efficient, which contributes to trust and confidence in management.

The physical environment at Reflections Memory Care is described as modern, bright, and well laid out. Reviews highlight recent remodeling and furniture upgrades in progress, producing an inviting, homey, and cozy atmosphere. The layout is noted as open and roomy, with bedrooms that open to common areas and easy access to a dining hall and activity spaces. Grounds are frequently praised — large outdoor areas with a lake and fountain create attractive exterior spaces. Cleanliness and upkeep come across as consistent strengths, with reviewers repeatedly calling the facility clean and well-kept.

Dining and activities are both strong themes. Meals are described as healthy and appetizing, with snacks available, and visitors remark favorably on the quality and appearance of food. Activities are plentiful and varied — Bingo, puzzles, themed games (e.g., deer hunting game) and routine activity programs are mentioned, and staff actively encourage residents to participate. Reviewers say these programs help residents build friendships and feel part of a community, enhancing quality of life.

Safety and management practices are another consistent theme. The facility is characterized as safe and secure, with lockdown protocols and other COVID-related safety measures credited for keeping residents healthy; reviewers explicitly note no COVID cases. Staff are praised for efficiency and openness in communication around these measures. The main negative pattern across the reviews relates to the necessary trade-offs of those safety measures: visitation and access to rooms, patios, and some facilities have been restricted during COVID lockdowns. Several reviewers specifically note limited visitation, restricted access to patios, and restrictions on entering rooms — constraints that are presented as temporary but impactful on family access and resident use of some amenities.

Minor concerns otherwise include potential privacy considerations because bedrooms open onto common areas (some may view that as reducing privacy), and temporary disruption related to ongoing furniture upgrades and remodeling. These issues appear secondary to the overwhelmingly positive comments about staff, cleanliness, safety, and resident life.

In summary, reviews portray Reflections Memory Care in Herrin, IL as a compassionate, well-run memory care community with high marks for its caregiving team, cleanliness, appealing grounds, food, and activity programming. The facility’s COVID-era safety protocols have been effective in preventing infections but have resulted in visitation and access limits that families should expect during outbreak responses. Prospective families should be reassured by the staff quality, communication, and maintenance of the property, while also asking management about current visitation rules, patio/outdoor access policies, and the timeline for any ongoing renovations to understand any short-term limitations.
