    Exceptionally caring staff and facility

I placed my loved one here and couldn't be happier - the staff are exceptionally caring, professional, and truly treat residents like family, often going above and beyond. The facility is remodeled, very clean, bright (new TVs, modern call system) with pleasant views and a lovely garden, and activities and therapies are outstanding. Rehab was excellent - they helped my family member regain mobility and manage pain - and the team made admissions and visits easy and reassuring. I highly recommend this place for long-term care or rehab; we had a wonderful, supportive experience.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries for Pacific Care Center is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, professional and engaged staff. Many reviewers highlight personalized, proactive care delivered by nurses, CNAs and therapists, and several accounts specifically praise individual staff members and leaders (for example, the therapy director Mr. Konn and staff members like Tammy Hammond and Robin). The facility receives consistent commendation for its focus on resident comfort, dignity, and strong communication with families; reviewers frequently describe a family-like atmosphere and say staff made both residents and families feel at ease.

Clinical care and rehabilitation are standout themes. Multiple summaries praise the expertise of the therapy team and the rehabilitation program, noting clear functional improvements (including examples of residents going from bedbound to walking with a walker and regaining abilities to shop). Reviewers point to a top-of-the-line physical therapy program, precise interventions, and an involved rehab director. The facility’s multi-team approach and regular team meetings are noted as contributing to positive, goal-oriented outcomes; reviewers report attentive, supportive, and encouraging rehabilitation care that helps residents meet their recovery goals.

Facility condition and amenities receive frequent positive mention. The building is described as clean, well-kept, remodeled, and modern, with new TVs in rooms, a modern calling system, bathrooms on each hall, and large rooms. Indoor spaces like a pleasant day room and communal TV/social areas are appreciated, and outdoor features such as a beautiful garden, bird feeders, twinkling lights, and walking areas contribute to a pleasant environment and scenic views. Several summaries specifically call out a lack of unpleasant odors and plentiful staffing as contributors to a comfortable stay.

Activities and community life are emphasized as another strength. Reviewers report an outstanding, varied activities program with multiple daily offerings including bingo, singing, dancing, celebrations, and family-inclusive events. Personal services such as haircuts and manicures are also available. When activities were temporarily reduced due to COVID precautions, that was noted as an unfortunate exception to otherwise robust programming.

Operations, safety and visitor experience tend to be viewed positively. Check-in procedures are described as efficient and user-friendly, with straightforward screening technology and printed visitor badges that accurately represent visitors. COVID precautions are mentioned, and while these sometimes led to activity cancellations, reviewers generally appreciated the facility’s attention to safety and infection control measures.

Dining feedback is mixed and represents the main recurring concern. While several summaries praise nice dining and edible food, at least one review expressly stated the food was not edible. This indicates variability in meal quality or personal preference; reviewers otherwise often compliment the dining room and eating experience, so the issue appears sporadic rather than pervasive.

A few reviewers describe a traditional nursing-home atmosphere and mention shared apartments, which may be a concern for families seeking more private, assisted-living style accommodations. This, along with the previously noted variability in dining and COVID-related temporary activity limitations, are the most commonly reported negatives across the summaries. No substantive complaints about cleanliness, staffing levels, clinical competence, or safety were reported—those areas are uniformly praised.

In summary, Pacific Care Center is portrayed as a clean, modern, and well-staffed facility with a strong rehabilitative focus, compassionate and dedicated caregivers, and an active, engaging social program. The facility’s strengths include excellent therapy outcomes, devoted staff who communicate well with families, a comfortable environment, and efficient operational practices. Potential residents and families should be aware of occasional concerns about food quality and the existence of shared-room nursing-home style accommodations, and they may want to ask about current activity schedules and dining menus during times of heightened infection-control measures. Overall, reviewers overwhelmingly recommend Pacific Care Center for both short-term rehabilitation and longer-term care needs.

    About Pacific Care Center

Pacific Care Center, located at 3035 Cherry St. in Hoquiam, WA, offers skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care, all under one roof, and the place's run by Hoquiam Healthcare, Inc., doing business as Pacific Care Center, owned by Ensign Services, Inc. with Medicare certification and 72 licensed beds, so you'll find both private and semi-private rooms that're well set up for comfort. The center has nurses and other healthcare staff around all day and night, who help with ongoing medical needs, daily life tasks like bathing and dressing, and other personal care. Memory care's available for folks living with dementia or Alzheimer's, and the staff tailor care plans as the disease changes, while the cost for this kind of service does depend on the level of assistance needed and how far the disease has gone, which can be about three times higher than regular healthcare for seniors over 65, but many people get help through programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and social security disability.

Short-term rehabilitation helps with recovery after surgery, illness, or injury, and there're state-of-the-art in-house therapy services for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, so people can work on getting stronger and regaining skills, and there are specific programs, such as post-op and neurological rehabilitation, arranged to match what each person needs. On the long-term side, residents who need continuing medical attention and support can stay as needed, and the interdisciplinary treatment team works together to keep residents comfortable and promote recovery and good quality of life, which is important when you need both caring nurses and knowledgeable therapists who set up clear and effective plans. You'll also find dietary and nutritional services with meals planned according to health needs and nutrition counseling, and the meal program in assisted living offers one to two prepared meals every day, while laundry and housekeeping services are routine.

The center's grounds have beautifully landscaped areas, with two large indoor gardens and an outdoor courtyard where people can visit their families in a safer way, especially when health conditions might be a concern. The activities program includes daily options for socializing, exercise, and other things people enjoy, because staying active is important, and you'll find everything from small gatherings to excursions out and about, so there's a choice for everyone. They offer a friendly, caring staff and aim for an environment that feels welcoming and home-like, no matter if it's a short or long stay, and the reviews seem to average about 4.7 stars based on what folks have posted, with many liking the compassionate care given.

The place accepts Medicare, most major insurances, and works with different funding sources. There's also an option to claim the community listing for administrative purposes and the location shows up clearly on available maps. Pacific Care Center's main service is nursing and rehab, but assisted living, respite care, and memory care are also offered, alongside therapy and activity programs, and the goal throughout the center is to help every resident feel as comfortable, active, and cared for as possible within the support and healthcare levels offered.
