    Kind Staff, Filthy Facilities, Unsafe

I had a deeply mixed experience. Many nurses, CNAs and therapists were kind, responsive and did excellent rehab work, but I also witnessed rude, incompetent staff, poor communication and management, filthy rooms and equipment, missed care (patients left in halls, not helped to eat), infections and ER transfers, misplaced belongings and long delays - safety felt inconsistent. Because of those serious lapses I can't fully recommend this place despite pockets of outstanding staff.

    About Holliswood Center

Holliswood Center takes care of people who need both short-term help and long-term care, and they're part of Centers Health Care, which is well-known for post-acute care. They use specialized care programs that fit each person's needs, and the staff try hard to treat everyone with respect and kindness-most folks say staff know residents by name, which means something when you're in a big place. They focus a lot on getting people stronger after illness or injury, and their RehabStrong™ and GO Rehab Programs work with expert therapists and the latest rehab technology, giving each resident a plan based on personal goals, history, and what they're able to do, and the goal is always for people to get back as much independence as they can, maybe even go home if that's possible.

The care team is made up of skilled nurses, therapists, social workers, and other staff, so nurses are there day and night, and there are always multiple caregivers for each resident. They've got a state-of-the-art rehab space, and on top of that, there's a Neurobehavioral Unit for folks with traumatic brain injury or similar conditions, plus a bunch of specific programs for Cardiac Care, Dementia, Dialysis, HIV/AIDS, Hospice, Orthopedic Care, Pain Management, Pulmonary and Stroke Care, Ultra-Care, Ventilator Care, and Wound Care, so quite a range-this includes both lab services and urgent care, as well as home health and adult day care options. Care plans are always personalized, whether for simple rehab or more complex health needs, and they also offer assistance with daily living if that's needed.

Holliswood Center has a CMS Five Star Rating, and they use the latest electronic charting, which helps doctors and nurses stay up to date. Health and safety procedures, including COVID-19 testing and visitor protocols, are in place to keep everyone safe. The buildings have comfortable rooms, staff for every support job, and there are often social events, birthday parties, pony rides, and activities to keep folks engaged-you'll even see family and friends joining for community events. They put a big focus on dignity and recovery, aiming to help every resident get stronger, both physically and emotionally, with choices that reflect what each person wants and needs.
