Sunny Brook Living Care Center in Fairfield, Iowa has been a pillar of the community since it was founded by Betty Howell in 1995. Over the years, the business grew to include multiple locations, but Howell has now decided to sell the last remaining building in Fairfield to Prestige Care of New York. The transition is set to take place on March 1st, with the facility changing its name to Prestige Care of Fairfield.
The staff at Sunny Brook recently bid farewell to Howell with a surprise party, celebrating her years of dedication to the business. Cyndi Gentz will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility as its administrator, ensuring a smooth transition under the new ownership.
With a capacity for 73 residents, Sunny Brook offers a range of living care services as well as home care support to over 200 clients across 13 counties. The facility employs around 100 staff members for the living care center and relies on 40 nurses and other providers for the home care services.
Throughout her career in the health care industry, Howell's passion for serving the elderly has been unwavering. Starting as a young teenager in Arkansas, she honed her skills through on-the-job training and eventually built Sunny Brook into a reputable assisted living center with a strong presence in the community.
Despite the bittersweet feeling of retirement, Howell expressed gratitude for the support she received from organizations like Iowa State Bank and Jefferson County Health Center, which allowed Sunny Brook to thrive. With a commitment to providing quality care and a range of amenities such as a coffee shop, sweet shop, salon, and movie theater, Sunny Brook Living Care Center has become a cherished resource for the elderly in Fairfield and beyond.
