Brookdale Winter Haven sits in a tropical area and offers a homelike setting that has outdoor spaces, gardens, an ice cream parlor, and a porch where people can relax and talk with friends or family if they want some fresh air, and you'll also see a courtyard, a sunroom or screened porch, and other spots to sit and chat or just rest quietly. The community has private and semi-private suites, such as one-bedroom, one-bathroom units and also two-bedroom layouts, so people can have their own space and privacy, and there's an emergency alert system and emergency call systems in the rooms to keep residents safe, along with keypad entry, controlled access, and staff who are there 24 hours a day to help with emergencies. There's nursing home care, memory care, assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, and even home care services, so people can get what they need as needs change. Amenities like a beauty/barber salon, library, residents' lounge, common room, and dining room make it feel more like home, and there's a kitchenette for residents who want to fix snacks or small meals. The staff do chores and handle home maintenance, so residents don't need to worry about repairs or upkeep, and there's a person-centered approach to care, with regular assessments to create personalized care plans that suit each person's needs and preferences. Brookdale Winter Haven is pet-friendly and also tries to help people feel connected and valued, with programs and daily activities that help residents keep their sense of belonging and purpose, whether they're interested in fitness, art, hobbies, or other group games and creative pursuits that let people engage at their own pace, and they also have therapy rooms and general counseling for more support. In the dining room, residents get nutritious meals, and the community has received awards for both dining and staff friendliness. Memory care at Brookdale Winter Haven comes with extra features like color-coded prompts and gentle reminders to help folks find their way, and there are consistent care assignments to support people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and the community is organized to reduce confusion and help prevent wandering. Transportation, parking, and security are included, and staff help schedule daily routines that fill the day with different ways to be active or social. The whole community is verified by outside partners for safety and quality, and you can tour the place and see how the team works together to try to help everyone age well, always aiming to help each person thrive while keeping their own identity.

Clean caring memory-care, slightly pricey
I toured this small, one-story community and was impressed - bright, immaculate, homey rooms (some on the small side) with private baths and a nice courtyard. The staff were outstanding: friendly, long-tenured, caring, and communicative; the food is excellent and activities/outsings (bingo, ice-cream socials, walking club) keep residents engaged. It's memory-care focused and residents seemed happy, but note limited amenities (no pool), occasional staffing/communication hiccups, and higher cost. Overall I'd recommend it if you want a clean, caring, home-like setting - just confirm staffing and accessibility for higher-needs care.

About Brookdale Winter Haven
About Brookdale
Brookdale Winter Haven is managed by Brookdale.
Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD) is the largest senior living operator in the United States, managing over 640 communities with capacity for approximately 59,000 residents across 41 states and employing around 36,000 associates. Founded in 1978 and publicly traded since 2005, Brookdale solidified its market leadership through major acquisitions including American Retirement Corporation (2006) and Emeritus Senior Living (2014), making it the only national full-spectrum senior living company. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Brookdale has topped the American Seniors Housing Association's ASHA 50 list and Argentum's largest providers list for multiple consecutive years.
The company's comprehensive care continuum includes independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). Brookdale's signature Clare Bridge program, developed over 30 years ago by dementia-care experts, provides specialized Alzheimer's and dementia care through two distinct levels: Clare Bridge communities for comprehensive memory support and the Clare Bridge Solace program for advanced-stage dementia residents. The program is recognized by the Alzheimer's Association® for incorporating evidence-based Dementia Care Practice Recommendations and features secure environments, enclosed courtyards, Daily Path programming with six structured activities daily, and the InTouch technology platform offering personalized brain-stimulating games and therapeutic content.
Brookdale's holistic Optimum Life® wellness approach balances six dimensions—Purposeful, Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, and Intellectual—implemented through signature programs including B-Fit (eight exercise class options), Brain Fit (mental fitness workouts), My Life Story (resident storytelling), EngagementPlus (interest-based connections), Growing Together (collaborative learning), and The Ageless Spirit (kindness and gratitude practices). The Embrace Family Partnership provides caregiver education and support for families of memory care residents.
The company's Brookdale HealthPlus® care coordination model, winner of the 2024 Argentum Best of the Best Award placing it among the top 1% of operators, is a technology-enabled healthcare service featuring dedicated RN Care Managers who proactively manage residents' health, coordinate care transitions, and help prevent avoidable hospitalizations. Communities using HealthPlus report 78% fewer urgent care visits, 36% fewer hospitalizations, and 63% more completed annual wellness visits. The Personal Solutions program delivers hygiene products, medications, and daily necessities directly to residents' doors with discreet packaging and monthly billing convenience.
Following a strategic divestiture of its home health and hospice operations to HCA Healthcare (completed December 2023), Brookdale now focuses exclusively on senior living operations while maintaining its position as the industry's largest operator, committed to its mission of enriching lives with compassion, respect, excellence, and integrity.
