    About Cypress Glen Retirement Community

Cypress Glen Retirement Community sits on a quiet and well-kept 95-acre campus in Greenville, North Carolina, close to East Carolina University, and gives folks a choice between independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and short-term rehabilitation, which all happen right on-site, so when a resident's health changes, they can stay in the community. The place operates as a Life Plan and Continuing Care Retirement Community, with a nonprofit background, and it's been managed for several years by Life Care Services, with ties to Medicare since 2002. The nursing home part is small, with six certified beds and about three residents each day, and includes round-the-clock nurse staffing, medication help, skilled nursing help, and both long-term and short-term care, plus support for frail adults, those with mobility needs, or anyone needing day-to-day help.

The memory care neighborhood was designed for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, and staff help with dressing, bathing, getting around, and other daily tasks, with specialized dining, allergy-friendly and diabetes diets, and trained help for those who need food made a certain way. Living options come as studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom suites with utilities, cable, furnished rooms, emergency alert systems, and housekeeping or laundry help-maintenance and yard work are also all handled. If someone needs to see a doctor or wishes to go shopping, the community offers transportation and help with moving in, sending out packages, and weekly security checks. There's a salon/barbershop, a fitness center, swimming pool, a walking trail, outdoor garden with raised beds, community and private dining rooms, plus a cafe and pub, and a library for reading.

The staff host a long list of activities, such as movie nights, recreational outings, religious and spiritual gatherings, exercise programs, social events, and community outreach for families, plus counseling and support groups. Families can join in and get ongoing education, while residents can join wellness and health events or take part in community-supported programs or off-campus trips. The garden is open for walks, and small pets are allowed. Priority access to care is there for any resident if health needs change, so one can transition without leaving Cypress Glen. One thing that stands out is that in the last health inspection of September 2024 there was a deficiency reported about resident assessments, but there were no fines, penalties, or payment suspensions in the previous three years, and that's a rare thing nowadays.

Cypress Glen allows aging in place with skilled nursing, adult care, and hospice services, plus home health and home care if needed, and it treats everyone equally under Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity guidelines. The staff-to-resident ratio is higher than the state average, which gives more care time for each person. The application involves a Future Resident Program and a waitlist, and folks on the list can use the wellness center, join events, or even dine on campus before moving in. There's warmth in the way the community runs with a culture of hospitality, and guest and family services are part of the package, so residents don't feel alone or isolated. That's Cypress Glen in a nutshell-a place for those looking for community, safety, and a full range of care options without needing to move if needs change.
