About Sheridan Senior Center: Day Break

Sheridan Senior Center's Day Break program offers a person-centered approach to care, focusing on nurturing the spirit and promoting individuality and independence. This program not only benefits the individuals receiving services but also provides a much-needed break for their loved ones who may be tasked with their care. By offering a variety of activities tailored to each individual's interests and strengths, Day Break plays a crucial role in allowing seniors to remain in their homes and out of long-term care facilities.

Participants in the Day Break program can set their schedules at the time of enrollment and make changes as needed. The program offers a range of services, including daily activities that encourage motivation and creative expression. Meals are provided, including a mid-morning and afternoon snack, as well as a full noon meal at The Hub Congregate meal location. The program also accommodates dietary needs and can provide assistance with tasks of daily living, such as toileting, bathing, feeding, and walking.

The program is overseen by Barb Blue, the Day Break Director, who ensures that trained and certified professionals provide respectful and personalized care to each participant. In addition to personal care assistance, the program offers transportation services through Goose Creek Transit for those who require transportation to and from the center. The staff at Day Break are dedicated to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals receiving services and uphold the highest standards of care.

If you are considering enrolling yourself or a loved one in the Day Break program at Sheridan Senior Center, you may find it helpful to review a set of questions provided by the center to determine if the services offered align with your needs. These questions can help guide your decision-making process and ensure that you are making the best choice for your care or that of your loved one. For more information or to speak with someone about the Day Break program, you can contact Barb Blue directly at the center.
