    Compassionate staff, excellent memory care

I placed a loved one here and I'm very happy with the care - compassionate, patient staff who feel like family, attentive caregivers who give personal, dignified attention, engaging activities, and home-cooked meals in a beautiful memory-care cottage. The administrator is always available and the staff-to-resident ratio is excellent; I would highly recommend this place. I did hear one isolated short-stay complaint about overmedication, but our experience was overwhelmingly positive.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the provided reviews is strongly positive, with a clear pattern of family members praising the compassionate nature of the staff, the personalized attention residents receive, and the homelike environment of AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak. Multiple reviewers emphasize an outstanding staff-to-resident ratio, describing caregivers as attentive, patient, and like family. Frequent themes include staff who go the extra mile, administrators who are available and responsive, and a perceived high quality of personal care — with specific mention that residents are well cared for and maintain dignity (including reports of no bed sores). The facility’s warm, cottage-style setting and the sense of calling or ministry expressed by staff are repeatedly noted as contributing to a positive atmosphere for memory care residents.

Care quality is described in overwhelmingly favorable terms by multiple reviewers: personalized care plans, loving and compassionate interactions, and a staff that responds promptly to family check-ins. Reviewers highlight that staff provide emotional support during difficult days and offer individualized attention. The nurse/ caregiver presence implied by the high staff-to-resident ratio appears to translate into families feeling reassured about day-to-day personal care. One reviewer specifically called AutumnGrove a "perfect home for a loved one," and several others said they would confidently refer friends and family to the community.

The facility’s programming and amenities receive consistent praise. Home-cooked meals made in view of residents, including preparation of loved ones' favorite recipes, are specifically mentioned as a differentiator. Recreational opportunities such as games and guest musicians are noted as engaging and meaningful for residents. The physical environment is characterized as a "beautiful cottage," which, combined with the domestic-style dining and activities, supports the impression of a home-like, comforting memory care community.

Management and communication also attract positive comments: reviewers mention an available administrator, helpful staff, and responsiveness to family inquiries. This contributes to trust and a sense of partnership between families and the facility. Many reviewers explicitly recommend the community and describe high satisfaction with outcomes related to personal care, respect, and daily quality of life.

However, there is a significant negative outlier that introduces an important caution. One review reports a short-term stay that the family characterized as a negative experience: they allege medication mismanagement (specifically overmedication with Haldol), resulting in delirium and frequent emergency room visits, and they state staff were unable to redirect an aggressive resident. That reviewer strongly advised against the facility and referenced a competitor, Sodalis Stone Oak, as a better option. This single, detailed adverse report raises concerns about consistency in clinical practices around behavioral management and psychotropic medication use, and it stands in contrast to the otherwise positive pattern.

In summary, the dominant theme across the reviews is that AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak provides compassionate, personalized, and dignified memory care in a warm, cottage-like setting, with strong staff engagement, appealing meals, and meaningful activities. Most families report high satisfaction and would recommend the community. The notable exception is a serious allegation of medication and behavioral-management problems in one short-stay case; while this appears to be an isolated outlier among the supplied summaries, it is a substantive concern that prospective families should explore further. Given the contrast, families touring or evaluating the community should seek specific information about medication protocols, behavioral de-escalation training, nurse oversight, ER transfer policies, and examples of how staff handle aggressive or challenging behaviors to confirm consistency of care.

    About AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak

AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak is a private memory care community with 16 beds that focuses on supporting seniors with Alzheimer's and other dementia-related conditions, and the cottage itself looks and feels very much like a regular house, with cozy private bedrooms and open, bright common areas that have comfortable seating inside and out, including a big porch and a garden where residents can relax or visit. The staff, who get to know the residents one by one, are specially trained in memory care and are always nearby, with a low staff-to-resident ratio so each person gets the attention they need, and a registered nurse is available at all hours, so residents are always supervised and safe, even those who wander or need more direct help, and everyone can use the secure outdoor spaces thanks to a safely monitored fence and alarm bracelets for those who might forget where they are. Caregivers are kind and try to make it feel like a close family, helping with daily activities-bathing, dressing, meals, medication, diabetes care, and transfers-even using lifts if someone needs extra support getting from bed to a chair, and the staff can also manage major behavior issues and incontinence if those needs come up.

Residents eat three home-cooked meals a day in a shared dining room, with options for all sorts of dietary needs like low sodium, organic ingredients, and low sugar, and if someone feels hungry at odd hours, they're welcome to snacks and anytime dining. There's a full schedule of simple activities for brain fitness and social time, nobody has to join but there's always something going on, like games, arts and crafts, gardening, music, exercise, yoga, educational talks, cooking lessons, wine tastings, and holiday or family parties, plus devotional services are sometimes hosted onsite or offsite for those who want them, and doctors, therapists, and nurses visit for medical support or rehabilitation as needed.

The building is well-kept, always clean with no bad smells, and the amenities like a beauty salon, walking paths, wheelchair accessible showers and tubs, private rooms with emergency call systems, a great room, and community gardens help everyone feel at ease, while extra care like on-site pharmacy, visiting home-health agencies, and behavioral care are there if someone needs them. There's a single all-inclusive price with no hidden fees for higher care, and all services-light, medium, and heavy care-can be provided so people aren't forced to move as their needs change, and pets are allowed, dogs or cats, as long as they fit the guidelines, and the staff will help with their care, too.

The whole place runs under strict licensing (ASLB #105770, Type B ALF #311593), and they use electronic records to keep up with everyone's care, keeping communication clear for families and the staff. Since it's family owned and operated, there's a clear focus on keeping things personal, with lots of opportunities for real connection, independence, and dignity through every stage of memory loss, whether someone's staying short-term for respite or making AutumnGrove their new home.
