Wellsboro Shared Homes has been a cornerstone of the community for 45 years, providing a safe, family-style home with a Christian emphasis for residents in Wellsboro and the surrounding area. Sadly, due to a lack of residents and increased operational costs, the decision has been made to close the Shared Home. Despite this difficult ending, there is a sense of fulfillment in knowing that the Home has honored God and fulfilled the vision of Dr. Ardell Thomas, who inspired its creation many years ago.
The support of dedicated board members, generous donors from First Baptist Church, and volunteers from the community has been instrumental in sustaining the Shared Home over the years. Without their contributions, it would not have been possible to provide such a special place for those who have called it home. The commitment and sacrifices of employees and administrators have also been crucial in ensuring the well-being of residents, as they have gone above and beyond to care for each individual with a true spirit of compassion.
As the Shared Home prepares to close its doors, thoughts and prayers are with the employees and administrators who have dedicated themselves to the well-being of residents. It is a time of transition as they seek new employment opportunities, and their selfless dedication to making others' lives better will not be forgotten. The legacy of Wellsboro Shared Homes will endure in the memories of those who have benefited from its care and in the appreciation of the community for the support and compassion that have been the foundation of this special place.
