    Hands-on compassionate five-bed home care

I placed my mom in this five-bed, home-like facility and have been extremely pleased. The staff - Darren and Bean included - are phenomenal: compassionate, hands-on, proactive with daily updates and frequent checks; the home is spotless, meals are great, there's kitchen access and engaging activities, and the caregiver ratio and pricing are excellent. They kept our family connected during hospice, and I highly recommend them (one minor note: could use a bit more daily programming).

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Avendelle at Lazy River is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize the quality of the staff — described as phenomenal, compassionate, kind, understanding and consistently helpful. Care is characterized as attentive and hands-on, with frequent checks on residents, proactive communication (including daily updates), and an excellent caregiver-to-resident ratio that reviewers attribute to high-quality, individualized attention. Several reviewers explicitly praised named staff and management (Darren and Bean), noting that management takes pride in the facility and is welcoming to both residents and their families.

Facility and environment receive consistently favorable comments. Multiple reviewers describe Avendelle as very clean or spotless and highlight its home-like atmosphere; one review specified a five-bedroom, house-like setting which reinforces the small-community feeling. The environment is repeatedly characterized as warm and welcoming for families, with staff providing emotional support and creating a protective, supportive system around residents. The facility’s small, home-style scale appears to contribute to the personalized care and the sense of a family environment that reviewers appreciated.

Practical aspects such as value and services are also strong themes. Reviewers cited reasonable pricing and excellent value for money. The facility supported complex needs like hospice care effectively — several reviews noted that staff were “on top of things” during hospice and helped keep distant family members informed and involved. Amenities and daily life features noted positively include kitchen access, good meals, and a variety of engaging activities (examples given: puzzles, building projects, walks). Reviewers also commented on staff efforts to keep residents socially connected and happy.

The primary area for improvement mentioned across the summaries is activity frequency. While activities are offered and some are engaging, at least one reviewer specifically requested more daily activities. This suggests that while the activity program is present and appreciated, increasing the regularity or variety of daily programming could further enhance resident life, particularly given the facility’s small scale where individualized engagement opportunities could be expanded.

In summary, the reviews depict Avendelle at Lazy River as a small, clean, home-like senior residence with exceptionally caring staff, strong management engagement, clear communication practices, and good value. Strengths are concentrated in personalized care, cleanliness, staff responsiveness, emotional and hospice support, and a welcoming family atmosphere. The single recurring suggestion from reviewers is to expand or increase daily activities to provide more consistent programming for residents. Overall, the reviews portray a facility that many families trust and highly recommend, with a clear emphasis on compassionate, hands-on care and strong staff-family communication.
