Brookdale Meadowmont gives older adults many choices for how they want to live, with options like independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care all in one community, so if someone needs more help as time goes on, they don't have to move away from the people and places they know. The staff are around all day and night to help, and everyone gets a personal care plan that's checked and updated to fit their changing needs, whether someone needs help with bathing, dressing, medication, or moving around, and the Memory Care program offers care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, with special places and routines that help residents feel safer and less confused. The apartments come in different sizes-studios, one-bedrooms, or two-bedrooms-with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, emergency call systems, and you can choose if you want yours furnished or unfurnished, plus pets are allowed, so people can bring their cats or dogs if they'd like. Folks who have trouble walking or use wheelchairs will find things set up to be easy to get around, and there are home-like community spots like a lounge, a dining room, a living room with a fireplace and piano, a big patio full of light, and even a community kitchen where residents can try making new recipes together, which makes it feel welcoming. Meals are served three times every day in a friendly dining room, but you still have your kitchen for snacks or cooking if you want, and there's always something going on, like fitness in the exercise room, social outings, a trip to the library, or just chatting with neighbors on the patio. The staff help with everything from medication management to personal care, and if someone wants to stay busy there's a calendar packed with events and signature programs. Brookdale HealthPlus® brings in a registered nurse who looks after each resident's health plan, and for those who want to stay at home, trained aides visit to help with non-medical needs and companionship. Transportation services are available for doctors' appointments or outings, and as part of Brookdale, staff respond to emergencies at any hour. The contract is month-to-month, with a one-time community fee when you move in, and while they don't accept Medicare, they do work with long-term care insurance. Brookdale Meadowmont connects with the Carolina House of Chapel Hill, and the Memory Care area has received good reviews for the way it helps residents with dementia or Alzheimer's. The community has Wi-Fi/high-speed internet, and offers preventive health services like wellness checks and flu shots, so folks can feel pretty well looked after while still hanging on to their independence and privacy.
Kind staff, clean, costly fees
I chose Brookdale Meadowmont for my mom and overall I'm pleased: the staff are kind, attentive, long-tenured and go above and beyond, the place is very clean and homelike, dining is restaurant-style with choices, and there are lots of activities and good early-stage memory care. Local communication and responsiveness are excellent and helped make the move smooth. Biggest negatives: fees are high and rising, corporate/billing and leadership turnover can be unresponsive, and there are occasional staffing/dining hiccups and limited outdoor/parking space. Despite those issues, I'd recommend it for the caring staff and strong community feeling.

About Brookdale Meadowmont
About Brookdale
Brookdale Meadowmont is managed by Brookdale.
Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD) is the largest senior living operator in the United States, managing over 640 communities with capacity for approximately 59,000 residents across 41 states and employing around 36,000 associates. Founded in 1978 and publicly traded since 2005, Brookdale solidified its market leadership through major acquisitions including American Retirement Corporation (2006) and Emeritus Senior Living (2014), making it the only national full-spectrum senior living company. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Brookdale has topped the American Seniors Housing Association's ASHA 50 list and Argentum's largest providers list for multiple consecutive years.
The company's comprehensive care continuum includes independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). Brookdale's signature Clare Bridge program, developed over 30 years ago by dementia-care experts, provides specialized Alzheimer's and dementia care through two distinct levels: Clare Bridge communities for comprehensive memory support and the Clare Bridge Solace program for advanced-stage dementia residents. The program is recognized by the Alzheimer's Association® for incorporating evidence-based Dementia Care Practice Recommendations and features secure environments, enclosed courtyards, Daily Path programming with six structured activities daily, and the InTouch technology platform offering personalized brain-stimulating games and therapeutic content.
Brookdale's holistic Optimum Life® wellness approach balances six dimensions—Purposeful, Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, and Intellectual—implemented through signature programs including B-Fit (eight exercise class options), Brain Fit (mental fitness workouts), My Life Story (resident storytelling), EngagementPlus (interest-based connections), Growing Together (collaborative learning), and The Ageless Spirit (kindness and gratitude practices). The Embrace Family Partnership provides caregiver education and support for families of memory care residents.
The company's Brookdale HealthPlus® care coordination model, winner of the 2024 Argentum Best of the Best Award placing it among the top 1% of operators, is a technology-enabled healthcare service featuring dedicated RN Care Managers who proactively manage residents' health, coordinate care transitions, and help prevent avoidable hospitalizations. Communities using HealthPlus report 78% fewer urgent care visits, 36% fewer hospitalizations, and 63% more completed annual wellness visits. The Personal Solutions program delivers hygiene products, medications, and daily necessities directly to residents' doors with discreet packaging and monthly billing convenience.
Following a strategic divestiture of its home health and hospice operations to HCA Healthcare (completed December 2023), Brookdale now focuses exclusively on senior living operations while maintaining its position as the industry's largest operator, committed to its mission of enriching lives with compassion, respect, excellence, and integrity.
