    Spacious, caring staff; management inconsistent

I placed my mom at Serenity Place on 7th and she's happy and comfortable in a spacious one-bedroom with a full kitchen and grab bars. Staff are caring and friendly (many became friends), activities/amenities are strong (walking paths, church, VA day program, bus service), and their COVID response and communication were excellent. Biggest downsides are unstable administration, frequent director turnover, occasional staffing/cleaning lapses and inconsistent meals. Overall I would recommend it, but go in knowing the management/staffing can be hit-or-miss.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Serenity Place on 7th is mixed but leans positive, with strong and recurring praise for the facility's cleanliness, caring staff, activity programming, and comfortable living spaces. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the building is bright, clean, and well-kept, with good housekeeping and pleasant smells. Several family members note that residents are happy, comfortable, and well looked-after, and many specifically say they would recommend the facility. The community atmosphere — described as friendly, small-town, and settled — is frequently cited as a plus, as are walking paths, a nearby church, and conveniences like a library and activity room.

Care quality and staff performance receive largely favorable comments: reviewers consistently describe staff and nurses as friendly, caring, and helpful, with some families saying staff became personal friends of their relatives. There are multiple endorsements of high-quality, attentive care and a genuine focus on residents' well-being. Communication with families is often praised, with good updates provided and transparent interactions. The facility's COVID response is singled out positively; reviewers say management followed guidelines, kept residents safe, and communicated well during the pandemic.

At the same time, an important and recurrent theme is inconsistency and turnover among leadership and front-line staff. Several reviews call out unstable administration, frequent director turnover, and general management confusion or lack of organization. Some reviewers also report short-staffing issues, which can affect routines and the timeliness of care. While many reviewers praise staff, a minority describe rude or indifferent employees and advise caution, which contributes to a polarized impression of service consistency.

Dining receives mixed reviews and is a notable area of divergence. A number of reviewers say residents enjoy most meals and are impressed with the food, while others report poor meal quality — specifically mushy vegetables and food served cold. This split suggests variability in kitchen execution or in individual expectations. Reviewers also note that the facility is perceived as good value and worry-free overall, but transportation services (a bus for shopping and appointments) may come with extra fees, which families should be aware of.

The physical environment and apartment features are overall strengths: reviewers mention spacious one-bedroom apartments with full kitchens, large bedrooms, and bathrooms equipped with grab bars. The facility is often described as attractive and comfortable, though some note dated cabinetry in rooms. Amenities such as crafts, bingo, bands, an active calendar of events, and a day program partnership with the local VA contribute to an engaging resident experience.

Patterns across the reviews point to a facility that delivers strong positives in cleanliness, social programming, and compassionate care when staffing and management are stable. The primary risks noted by reviewers are organizational instability, staff turnover, occasional short-staffing, and inconsistent dining and service experiences. There are a few outlier negative reviews that strongly advise against the facility, but these contrast with multiple recommendations and endorsements.

For prospective residents and families, the most practical takeaway is to verify current conditions during a visit: ask about recent leadership changes, staffing levels and turnover, observe mealtimes, request sample menus, and speak with current families about their recent experiences. Confirm transportation costs and the specifics of activity programming and VA day services. These steps will help determine whether Serenity Place on 7th offers the consistent level of care and service you expect, given the mix of strong positives and notable variability reflected in the reviews.
