    Caring staff, facility needs improvements

I've been there for my Uncle Charlie and overall I'm grateful. The quiet, park-like country setting feels homey and clean, and the owners and staff are kind, professional, attentive and truly care - teamwork is obvious and residents seem happier. My concerns: the building and some amenities need refreshing and better maintenance, activities are limited, and there have been worrying incidents (a dropped patient, stolen clothes/food). Despite that, my uncle is well taken care of and I appreciate the compassionate staff.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing attentive, compassionate caregiving and a welcoming, home-like environment. Cleanliness is repeatedly noted, and the facility is described as tidy and well-kept inside. The setting is consistently described as quiet and park-like—more country than city—which reviewers view as peaceful and non-institutional. Several reviewers specifically state the facility does not feel hospital-like and praise the location and overall atmosphere.

Staff quality and relationships with residents are the dominant positive themes. Reviewers use words such as polite, helpful, kind, respectful, professional, compassionate, and thorough to describe staff. There are repeated references to dedicated staff, strong teamwork, and owners or leadership who are caring and involved. Remarks such as residents being happier and expressions of gratitude for the care provided (for example, being there for a family member) reinforce the impression that personal care is a strength. One reviewer explicitly mentions new leadership and a ‘‘true community,’’ suggesting recent improvements in culture and management that have been noticed by families.

Facility-related observations are mixed. On the positive side, reviewers call it a nice facility with a good location and a home-like interior. On the negative side, several notes indicate the building and some amenities could use updating: maintenance could be better, the building needs refreshing, and certain amenities are outdated. These comments point to cosmetic or upkeep issues rather than pervasive cleanliness problems (cleanliness itself is praised), but they do suggest capital improvements or more consistent maintenance may be needed.

There are a few notable concerns that temper the overall positive picture. Multiple reviews report a lack of activities for residents—one explicitly states there are no activities with patients—which is an important gap for social and cognitive engagement. More serious isolated incidents are also mentioned: a nurse reportedly dropped a patient, and there were reports of clothes and food being stolen. These are significant safety and security concerns that require careful follow-up. While many reviews describe excellent, compassionate care, these incidents indicate lapses in procedure, supervision, or security that prospective residents and families should investigate further.

Dining is a neutral/unknown area in these summaries: at least one reviewer notes they have not tried the food, and no substantive comments about meals or dining quality appear in the set. This absence of feedback means prospective families should ask directly about menu options, meal service, and dietary accommodations during a tour.

In summary, Ridgeway Assisted Living and Memory Care is consistently praised for its staff—compassionate, thorough, respectful caregivers—and for providing a clean, home-like, and peaceful environment that residents and families appreciate. The leadership and sense of community are highlighted as strengths. However, there are clear areas for attention: building maintenance and outdated amenities, a lack of organized activities for residents, and a few serious reported incidents (a dropped patient and thefts) that warrant direct questions about safety protocols, incident reporting, staffing levels, and security measures. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong caregiving culture and atmosphere against these operational and safety concerns and consider touring the facility, meeting current leadership, asking for recent incident records, and sampling dining and activity offerings before deciding.
