About New Post (CLOSED)

New Post, a senior living facility operated by Trilogy Health Services, was planned to be a 103-apartment transitional senior living facility located on Centre Ave in Portage, Michigan. The proposed $14.6 million facility featured a two-story building with a total area of 87,312 square feet, offering a range of living options for seniors. The facility was set to include 22 independent-living units, 49 skilled-nursing units, 12 assisted-living memory care units, and 20 assisted-living care units, providing a variety of options to meet the diverse needs of residents.

In addition to the residential wings, New Post was designed to include amenities such as physical and occupational therapy facilities, community dining areas, a café, a pub/parlor, a hair salon, and outdoor activity areas. The goal of the facility was to create a welcoming and supportive environment where seniors could live comfortably and maintain their independence while receiving the care they needed. The city of Portage aimed to encourage seniors to "age in place" within the community, allowing them to remain close to their families and support systems.

Construction on the New Post facility was expected to begin in the summer of 2024, with the project being completed in one phase. While the former Otis Montessori Academy building on the site was slated for demolition, the vacant Beacon Memory Care Facility nearby was set to be repurposed and expanded as part of the project. The city's approval of the plans for New Post reflected its commitment to providing housing options and resources for seniors, supporting the idea of seniors remaining in the community and benefiting from the proximity to their families.

With a focus on creating a comfortable and engaging living environment for seniors, New Post aimed to offer a range of services and amenities to enhance the overall quality of life for its residents. The addition of this facility to Portage's senior living options was seen as a positive step towards meeting the needs of the local senior population and ensuring that seniors could continue to thrive and maintain connections within their community.
