A & R Comfort Care is a provider of Intensive Individual Support Services (IISS) and Family Consultation (FC) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The program is located inside Gaithersburg High School (GHS) in room #1137, offering a unique and quality program that includes activities such as music, art, dance, movement, social skills, sharing, and turn-taking. Children can attend after school and participate in structured activities designed to help them develop skills and abilities.
During the summer, A & R Comfort Care organizes weekly outings to various places like libraries, parks, eateries, bowling alleys, butler's orchard, and more. These outings provide children with opportunities to engage with their community and enjoy different recreational activities. Additionally, the program offers aquatic therapeutics at a local pool, trampoline park visits, and other stimulating experiences to support the children's development.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, A & R Comfort Care has adapted its services to assist children with their online school classes. Technicians are available to help children stay focused, provide verbal instructions, and offer verbal prompts as needed. The IISS program involves one-on-one interventions with a technician who works with the child in their home or community environment. The interventions are tailored to the child's individual needs and are based on a treatment plan developed by a Family Consultant assigned to the family.
Family Consultation is provided by master's degree professionals and offers support and guidance to families on how to help their child acquire, retain, or improve skills that impact their development and independence. This service is scheduled once a month for three hours to give and receive updates on the child's progress. The focus of the consultation is to collaborate with families and ensure the child's well-being and growth are being supported effectively. A & R Comfort Care is dedicated to delivering personalized, goal-oriented services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders to help them reach their full potential and thrive in their everyday lives.
