    Warm attentive care, verify billing

I moved my aunt here and I'm glad we did - it's a beautiful, well-kept, family-oriented place with professional, caring staff, home-cooked meals, and residents who genuinely seem happy. She's more at peace and better cared for: thoughtful accommodations (chairlift, furniture adjustments), transportation and therapy services, Zoom access, and a pleasant atmosphere. My downsides: billing lacked transparency (we had an unauthorized withdrawal), rooms are small, amenities and common space are limited, and there's no 24/7 on-site nurse - plus pricing felt high. Overall I recommend for warm, attentive care, but verify charges and room/activity options before committing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews is predominantly positive with repeated praise for the staff, the level of personal care, and the family-like atmosphere. Multiple reviewers emphasized that staff members are welcoming, professional, and go above and beyond; residents are treated with dignity and respect and many families reported noticeable improvements in mood and peace of mind after moving loved ones in. The facility is consistently described as clean and well-kept, and several people specifically recommended the community and said the residents appear happy and socially engaged.

Care quality and staff: The strongest and most frequent theme is the quality of caregiving and the attitudes of staff. Reviewers highlighted staff professionalism, responsiveness to questions, and a welcoming approach that included inviting visitors to lunch and facilitating family contact. The facility is noted for a dementia focus and staff who understand and serve residents with memory care needs. Families reported that residents feel at home, are well cared for, and that the environment preserves dignity and provides emotional comfort. Several reviews singled out the owner and management for being informative and engaged, which contributed to a sense of transparency around operations (though see management/billing concerns below).

Facilities and layout: Comments about the physical plant are mixed. Positive notes include a large property and spacious downstairs common areas, outdoor porch space, and specific accessibility accommodations such as a chairlift and furniture adjustments to fit a second bed — practical details that helped some families. However, multiple reviewers described individual rooms as small or tiny; the common area was characterized by some as limited in size; and at least one reviewer found the layout uncomfortable. While the overall condition was usually described as clean and maintained, a few visitors felt the setting did not meet their personal standards or expectations.

Dining and services: Home-cooked meals are a recurring positive, with several reviewers praising the food and the ability to join residents for meals. Basic in-room amenities like TVs are present. Service offerings mentioned include a transportation van and on-site (home-based) physical therapy, and the facility supported virtual communication such as Zoom during the pandemic. These practical services contributed to families' peace of mind and satisfied a number of reviewers.

Activities and atmosphere: While many reviewers praised the pleasant, family-oriented atmosphere and social engagement among residents, a notable, repeated critique is the limited amenities and activities. Multiple reviewers said there was a lack of robust programming or extra amenities; some found the community ordinary or "nothing special" in terms of activities. Staff engagement was commonly praised, but a few people felt staff were not as engaging or that the overall vibe was different from what they expected.

Management, communication, and billing: Communication received mixed marks. On the positive side, owners and some staff were described as informative and accessible, and several families appreciated open visitation policies and pandemic-era virtual access. On the negative side, billing and financial transparency emerged as the clearest recurring concern: reviews mention unauthorized account withdrawals, miscommunication about charges, and a perceived lack of transparency about billing. These financial and administrative issues stood out because they contrast with otherwise positive reports of care and created real dissatisfaction for some families.

Cost and value: Several reviewers felt the price was high or too expensive given the limited amenities and small rooms. This created a tension: many families expressed high satisfaction with the caregiving and the emotional well-being of their relatives, yet some questioned the value proposition when comparing room size, programming, or extras to the cost.

Notable patterns and recommendation summary: The reviews collectively portray Prince Of Peace Assisted Living as a well-run, clean, dementia-capable care home where staff are caring and residents often thrive emotionally and socially. The strongest positives are staff quality, home-like meals, and individualized accommodations. The most significant negatives are small resident rooms, limited communal amenities/activities, occasional lapses in staff engagement as perceived by some visitors, and administrative/billing issues that warrant attention. Prospective families should weigh the high marks for hands-on caregiving and atmosphere against the practical concerns about room size, available activities, and billing transparency. For families prioritizing compassionate, dementia-aware caregiving and a home-like environment, many reviewers recommend Prince Of Peace; for those seeking larger rooms, broader amenities, or guaranteed 24/7 on-site nursing, this facility may be less well matched to their needs.

About Prince Of Peace Assisted Living Facility

Prince Of Peace Assisted Living Facility offers a home-like setting for seniors in four locations across Fort Washington and Takoma Park, Maryland, and each one tries to make things as comfortable and supportive as possible, with different care options so seniors can pick what best suits their needs, whether they want independent living, need help with daily tasks, memory care, or even more complex nursing care. The house sits on a quiet street, and you'll find a lively setting with staff who focus on treating everyone with dignity and compassion, offering help around the clock for those who need it, with private and semi-private bedrooms available. There are thoughtful touches you'd expect, like housekeeping, laundry-even personal and dry cleaning-so residents don't have to worry about chores, along with nutritious meals, including vegetarian and kosher options, which get served in the dining room. The building gives you easy access with wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, and safety features throughout, and each room has cable TV, bath tubs, and private baths. For safety, especially for folks in memory care, you'll find detailed safety measures and ongoing assessments, and families can come in to talk about care plans, waiting lists, or costs as part of the move-in process.

The facility is family-owned and has been run by the same mother and daughter team for close to twenty years, which gives it the kind of steady, personal touch many people appreciate, and the staff takes time to provide assistance with dressing, bathing, walking, and even things like incontinence or wound care when needed, with nurses, podiatry, medication management, and even mobile prescription services available, so most health or therapy needs get handled on site. There are always activities going on, like movie nights with popcorn, visits from the Boy and Girl Scouts, arts and crafts, parties, and even outings for those who want to get outside for field trips and community events, and the property includes common rooms for games, activities, fitness, and salons or kitchenettes for those who like their privacy. Wifi makes it simple to connect with loved ones, and there are caregiver resources to help families understand the differences between care types. There are options for transportation at cost and parking for residents, and the grounds offer indoor and outdoor areas for socializing or just relaxing.

The care team at Prince Of Peace works with each resident to create a plan tailored to their needs, whether that means managing medication or making sure they get the right help with bathing, grooming, or meals, and they offer specialized memory care for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, with 24/7 supervision as needed. Pets may or may not be allowed, depending on the building's policy, but all sites keep a keen focus on security and a clean, tidy environment. Payment can be made by private pay, cash, check, military, or VA benefits. This place sticks close to its mission and values, striving to offer a haven of caring, peace, and steady support, and you get the sense everyone works hard to enrich each resident's life with warmth and understanding.
