    Above and beyond dementia care

I placed my mother-in-law at the Cedar location and couldn't be happier - Juanita and the caring, attentive staff go above and beyond, keep us updated (even FaceTime), helped with the move, and provide excellent, dementia-capable, exceptionally clean, home-like care. Early turnover and activity gaps were addressed, and I now have real peace of mind - I highly recommend Cedar.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is predominantly positive, with repeated emphasis on caring, attentive staff and a home-like environment that puts residents and families at ease. Multiple reviewers single out the administrator Juanita as responsive, compassionate, and instrumental in making placements and helping families navigate care; her involvement is associated with improved communication and a higher level of trust. Many comments describe staff who go "above and beyond," provide exceptional patient care, and are knowledgeable about assistance programs, which contributes to peace of mind for family members. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the facility for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia, noting continual observation, encouragement of resident interaction, and programming aligned with memory-care needs.

Care quality is frequently described as excellent: reviewers cite devoted caregivers, attentive monitoring, and personalized support. Families report regular updates about health status, use of FaceTime to include distant relatives, and staff willingness to handle difficult tasks such as moving belongings and caring sensitively after a resident’s death. These operational strengths (clear communication, emotional support, and logistical help) appear to be consistent themes that shape the facility’s positive reputation among many families.

Staff and management emerge as central strengths and differentiators. Numerous reviews praise individual staff members and the administrator for being helpful, responsive, and resident-focused. The repeated mention of Juanita indicates stable leadership that families trust. Several reviewers describe interactions with marketers or administrators who were helpful and made the process simple, further easing transitions into care.

Facility-related comments are also largely favorable: the building is described as clean, inviting, and home-like, with a large shared area that promotes community and social interaction. Reviewers specifically note an atmosphere that feels family-like and comforting. Cleanliness and a well-maintained environment are mentioned as contributing factors to residents doing well in the setting.

However, there are notable negative reports that must be weighed seriously. At least one review describes significant problems: unqualified staff, understaffing, lack of activities (explicit mention that there was "no bingo"), and an alleged neglectful incident in which a resident was found unclothed in their room. That reviewer felt the incident was "shrugged off" by staff, and described an overall negative impression. These allegations indicate potential lapses in supervision, dignity and privacy protections, and programmatic engagement for residents. Another theme is past staff turnover; while one summary notes that turnover was resolved and the facility improved, that history may have contributed to earlier quality and continuity issues.

Taken together, the pattern suggests a facility that many families deeply trust and recommend—particularly for memory care—because of strong leadership, compassionate staff, cleanliness, and family-oriented practices. At the same time, there are isolated but serious negative accounts that point to risks around staffing levels, staff qualifications, activity programming, and resident privacy/safety. Prospective families should weigh the overall positive consensus and repeated endorsements (including the emphasis on nurse/administrator responsiveness) against the reported negative incidents. If considering this facility, ask management specifically about current staffing ratios and qualifications, activity schedules and enrichment offerings, safeguards for resident privacy and hygiene, and any recent changes made after past turnover or incidents. Request references from other families and, if possible, visit during activity times to observe staff-resident interactions and supervision firsthand.

    About Ashley Manor Memory Care

Ashley Manor Memory Care, with several locations including Ashley Manor Cedar in Pocatello, Idaho, offers care and support for people living with memory loss, Alzheimer's, or other forms of dementia, and they also have a spot in Meridian. Residents live in small, home-like settings with private or semi-private suites, where they can bring personal belongings and decorate their rooms how they like. The facility focuses on routine and a warm, family feeling, while staff trained in dementia care provide help twenty-four hours a day, including nursing support on call and assistance with all daily tasks, medication, and even oxygen. People who live here get three home-cooked meals daily, snacks, and specialized diets if needed, while support for health covers areas like wound care, podiatry, medication management, high acuity needs, behavior and incontinence care, hospice, and home health. They offer a secure living space with alarm systems, locked backyards with walking paths, patios, and safety equipment like sprinkler systems, so residents who have trouble remembering things can move about safely. Everybody can join in activities that encourage thinking and socializing, with memory-enhancing games, sensory and therapy options such as aroma therapy, music, light, and reminiscence therapies, and there are always both group and personal programs happening, some aimed specifically at people with dementia or Alzheimer's. Family involvement is encouraged with newsletters, support groups, and resources from the Alzheimer's Association, and the house manager has a reputation for staying in touch with families. Pets are allowed, and residents can expect laundry, housekeeping, fitness, games, arts and crafts, WiFi, and kitchenettes, with help for transportation as needed. Staff work with families to write personalized care plans so every resident gets attention that matches their habits, health, and wishes, and they also offer respite care when caregivers at home need a break. People talk about a comfortable setting that's calm and secure, where dignity and independence matter and the focus remains on enhancing life for those who can no longer remember as well as they used to, though online reviews show a range of experiences with an average rating of about 4.56 for some sites, with a few reports closer to 3.0 stars at others. A tour can be set up to visit in person, and the Ashley Manor team provides clear info on different care levels, move-in details, and available services, while the Cedar location stands out for its dedicated memory care programming right in the heart of Pocatello.
