Sunrise of Wilton sits in Wilton Center at 211 Danbury Road and is a three-story senior living community offering assisted living, memory care, independent living, respite and short-term stays, hospice care, and skilled nursing care, and the building has a range of private, semi-private, studio, one- and two-bedroom units so folks can choose what fits them best, and there are secure areas for those who need memory care. The community lets residents bring allowed pets, and there's a focus on keeping things feeling homelike, with lush gardens, walking paths, and views of nature that make it a peaceful spot. The staff, led by Ms. Karolina Nemchek, are available day and night and support residents who need help with daily tasks like bathing or dressing, and nurses are on staff as well. Those who need specialized dementia support get care inside a dedicated memory care unit, with programs like Reminiscence and Terrace Club, and there are safety features like secured courtyards to help prevent wandering. Sunrise of Wilton offers meals made with quality ingredients, and they pay attention to dietary needs. Residents have access to recreation and fitness spaces to keep both body and mind active, as well as social and activity programs aimed at keeping everyone engaged, and for those with health concerns or mobility issues, the community provides transportation, is handicap accessible, and they've got telehealth options so folks can see healthcare providers without having to leave the building. Residents' health and care are tracked through the Sunrise CareConnect system, which helps manage medications and keep records up to date, and families can feel confident knowing everything's monitored. The staff develops personalized care plans for each resident and keeps an eye on individual needs and preferences, and everything goes back to their mission to champion quality of life for all seniors, using a holistic approach and latest research about aging. Along with regular living, Sunrise of Wilton supports independent seniors, offers Dignity Home Care, and has specialized services for those dealing with Alzheimer's disease and similar challenges. Amenities like Wi-Fi, member events, and opportunities for networking and community involvement are present, and since joining the Greater Norwalk Chamber in 2019, the community stays involved in local initiatives, sharing news, resources, and support related to senior care. Sunrise Senior Living, the parent organization, is a leader in quality care, with over 280 National Quality Awards, and at this location, they've kept a 5.0 rating from three reviews, reflecting satisfaction with their services, though like anywhere it's important to visit and ask questions in person if possible.
Family-like care, beautiful facility, recommended
I placed my mom at Sunrise of Wilton and overall it's been a wonderful, family-like community. Irene Fazio and the leadership team (including the executive director) and an extraordinary, attentive nursing and caregiving staff made the transition smooth and gave me peace of mind - they're professional, caring, and truly invested in resident safety. The brand-new, light, spacious building and grounds are beautiful, activities and personalized programming (strong memory care) keep residents engaged, and pandemic safety measures felt comprehensive. Minor downsides: occasional staffing shortages, a sometimes unprofessional front desk and limited after-hours access, and meal variety could improve. Despite that, my mom is happy and engaged, and I would recommend Sunrise of Wilton.

About Sunrise of Wilton
About Sunrise Senior Living
Sunrise of Wilton is managed by Sunrise Senior Living.
Sunrise Senior Living is one of the largest senior care operators in North America, managing over 270 communities across the United States and Canada with approximately 22,000 employees. Founded in 1981 by Paul and Terry Klaassen in Oakton, Virginia, Sunrise pioneered the Victorian mansion-style senior living community design, inspired by Dutch senior care models and European hospitality concepts. Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, Sunrise offers a comprehensive continuum of care including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and hospice coordination.
The company's signature memory care programs include Terrace Club Neighborhoods for residents with early to moderate memory loss, and Reminiscence Neighborhoods for those with advanced Alzheimer's and dementia. As an Authorized Validation Organization, Sunrise practices the Validation Method—which they call "exquisite listening"—using empathy-based communication techniques to reduce anxiety and improve quality of life for memory care residents. Their Live With Purpose™ programming engages residents through personalized activities aligned with their interests and life experiences.
Sunrise leverages advanced technology including Sunrise CareConnect, an electronic health record system built on PointClickCare technology that enables real-time documentation, comprehensive health tracking, and remote access for healthcare providers. The Road Home Program offers specialized 30-day transitional care for seniors discharged from hospitals or rehabilitation centers, providing medication management and 24/7 support.
The company has achieved notable sustainability certifications, with facilities earning WELL Health-Safety Rating, WELL Equity Rating, ENERGY STAR® certifications, and LEED Silver designation. Sunrise communities feature Individualized Service Plans, Designated Care Managers, and welcome pets, with many locations maintaining community cats or dogs. After celebrating 40 years in 2021, Sunrise continues its mission to champion quality of life for all seniors through their resident-centered, holistic approach to senior care.
