About Marvin

The Marvin is a unique and affordable housing program designed specifically for older adults who deserve to age with dignity and grace. With 49 low-income private apartments, The Marvin offers residents the benefits of independent living with additional support when needed. The community at The Marvin is designed with intergenerational connection in mind, providing a vibrant atmosphere where residents can enjoy shared spaces such as communal dining rooms, lounges, a library, art and activity rooms, community rooms, and an outdoor garden area.

Residents at The Marvin have access to a Resident Services Coordinator who can assist with navigating financial and care needs, providing referrals to community resources and partners. Daily activities and programs are also offered, including exercise classes, entertainment, cultural programming, and interactions with children from the Marvin’s Children’s Center and teens from the local community. This focus on social interaction and community engagement helps residents stay active and engaged.

Affordability is a key aspect of The Marvin, made possible through a combination of government and private funding. Rent and fees are based on each resident's income, with the total maximum monthly payment currently being 30% less than the average one-bedroom apartment in the area. Eligibility for The Marvin requires applicants to be 62 or older with income at or below 60% of the area's median income. The goal of The Marvin is to provide an affordable, supportive, and socially stimulating alternative to premature institutionalization, allowing residents to enjoy their golden years under one roof.

If The Marvin sounds like the right fit for you or a loved one, the application process is open to those who meet the eligibility criteria. The community at The Marvin is dedicated to connecting generations and building a strong sense of community, making it a place where residents can thrive and enjoy their senior years with dignity and grace.
